DCMS Bassano project
With the generous sponsorship
provided by the DCMS it is hoped to make available to a wider
public the rich variety of the Bassano studio output held by
the National Portrait Gallery. This covers many aspects of British
life from the 1870s to the 1950s as well as a rich variety of
visitors to London.
The project has begun with a
pilot scheme of starting to catalogue, print up and digitise
the whole collection starting at the 1st January 1920. (Earlier
material has been partially indexed). To date over 4,500 new
records added to the Gallery's online database and has covered
the the studio's output from 1920-1926 and the John Culme Theatrical
Collection.
