SEN Outreach Sessions
As well as an extensive programme
of direct teaching in the Gallery we offer FREE outreach work
in the community.

The Education Department welcomes
bookings from hospital schools/wards and day units. Teachers
can book our wide range of innovative and popular activities,
linked to the National Curriculum and led by Gallery staff.
Booking
All of the sessions are
FREE. They last for an hour and a half and are available during
term time on the following days:
Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays
10.30am - 12noon
or
1pm - 2.30pm
Please try and give us alternative
dates; for each term we will take bookings from the previous
half term onwards and for the Autumn Term from the beginning
of July.

We require a minimum of three
weeks notice to book a session. All sessions are subject to availability.
When you make a booking we will
need to know your chosen subject, group size and any other
SEN requirements.

Topics for Outreach Sessions
Taught by experienced art educators,
these practical sessions explore pose, character, expression,
colour and symbols in portraiture using the National Portrait
Gallery's collection as a basis. The sessions enable groups to
explore portraiture and develop their enquiry skills.
We will provide a FREE tutor
and reproductions from the collection. Materials are not provided.
All sessions last for an hour and a half.
