Young People's Programme

The Young People's Programme is dedicated to working with 14 - 21-year-olds outside of school, in a wide variety of ways. All sessions are free and explore aspects of portraiture in exciting and innovative ways, drawing inspiration from the Collection or temporary exhibitions. Sunday Sessions are on the first Sunday of the month Holiday workshops take place over two or three days, often culminating in a performance or private view Specific resources are available for young people Special taster sessions can be arranged for groups from youth organisations in Camden, Lambeth, Southwark and Westminster

January	Sunday 4 January 2009, 13:00 - 16:00 Sunday Session You're Gorgeous! Looking at the hair and make-up represented in portraits in the Collection, from the Tudors to the present day, take part in this beautyworkshop. Led by stylists Amita Rallin and Antigoni Livieratou. Free

January	Saturday 24 January 2009, 13:00 - 16:00 Drop-in event: Chinese New Year Join us for special activites in celebration of the Year of the Ox inspired by the Collection. Create a quirky mask morphing human and animal features with artist Lisa Cheung Free

February	Sunday 1 February 2009, 13.00 - 16.00 Sunday Session Who am I? Responding to the question, take control of how you wish to represent yourself in a self-portrait photography workshop, using artists' images of themselves in the Collection as a starting point. Led by photographers Elizabeth Doak and Gisela Torres. Free

February	Tuesday 3 February 2009, 11.30 - 12.30 and 14.30 - 15.30 Q&A Meet the Artist A unique opportunity to meet artist Tanya Raabe who will be giving a talk about her Who's Who project in which she created an expressive collection of portraits of new and emerging disabled artists. Free

February - February	Wednesday 18th - Friday 20th February 2009, 11.00 - 16.00 Three-day Workshop Animate Inspired by a wide variety of portraits in the Collection, this animation course is led by artist Howard Matthew and Vanessa Lawrence. Culminating in a public screening of the work. Free

February	Friday 20th February 2009, 17.00 Screening Animate presents A showcase resulting from the Animate course. Free
