The National Portrait Gallery's roof-top restaurant boasts spectacular views over London, and has quickly established itself as one of the capital's most sought after dining areas, set 92 feet above ground level on the third floor of the Gallery's new Ondaatje wing.

Diners can enjoy an unparalleled vista of Nelson in Trafalgar Square and across Whitehall to the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and the London Eye. Operated by the renowned catering firm, Searcy's, The Portrait Restaurant offers some of the finest modern British food daily for lunch and two evenings a week - Thursday and Friday to coincide with the Gallery's extended opening hours.

The head chef is Swedish born Katarina Todosijevic. Katarina has worked for several prestigious Searcys outlets, starting at Waterstones Piccadilly, she opened 1802, the bar & dinning rooms at the Docklands museum in 2003 & joined us at The Portrait Restaurant in October 2005. Her previous experience was with the Conran Group

The 80-seat restaurant and adjacent 25-seat bar area are open throughout the day. The Dixon Jones partnership, the architects for the new wing, have created an interior in the restaurant and bar to make maximum use of the restaurant's spectacular panoramic views.
