American Friends of the National Portrait Gallery

The National Portrait Gallery London has for years enjoyed a close affiliation with the United States. Critically acclaimed exhibitions from the Gallery travel to some of the most celebrated museums and galleries in the US including Horst Portraits: 60 Years of Style (Museum of Fine Arts, Boston), David Hockney Portraits (MFA and Los Angeles County Museum of Art), Romantics & Revolutionaries: Regency Portraits from the National Portrait Gallery and Searching for Shakespeeare (Yale Center for British Art, New Haven), and George Romney (Huntington Art Gallery, San Marino), and most recently, from Spring to Autumn 2007, Great Britons: Treasures from the National Portrait Gallery London (National Portrait Gallery Washington.

The American Friends of the National Portrait Gallery is an independent charity based in the United States that builds awareness of the Gallery in London and its work in America and helps support important exhibitions and acquisitions. Americans in the United States and London have the opportunity to enjoy a close association with the Gallery and broaden their knowledge of portraiture and the Gallery's Collection through special events to celebrate our touring exhibitions.

With annual visitor figures of over 6 million to the website and 1.5 million to the Gallery, the Collection engages an international audience. The Gallery continues to go from strength to strength but its requirements are also growing and your support is needed more than ever.

Should you wish to make a donation in US dollars through the American Friends of the National Portrait Gallery, a 501 (c) (3) registered charity, you can receive favourable tax deductions on your gift.
