A Gift in your Will

Over the years, many individuals have enabled us to fulfil our ambitions by helping us to acquire what is now the most comprehensive collection of portraits in the world, charting the lives and achievements of Britain's most influential and inspiring figures.

Thanks to the generosity of individuals who have given a gift to the Gallery in their wills, we have managed to acquire some of our most celebrated and popular portraits of key figures throughout British history and culture; such as George Richmond's enduring image of Charlotte Brontë, the iconic portrait of Queen Elizabeth I, known as the 'Ditchley' portrait, or more recently, photographs of figures like Alec Guiness and Kenneth Williams.

There are lots of ways in which you can ensure that future generations are able to appreciate and enjoy the Gallery as you have done. You may wish to leave a gift of money, or alternatively, you may want to leave shares or property. As well as offering us vital support, legacies to the National Portrait Gallery can prove extremely tax efficient - as the Gallery has full charitable status, any gift you leave will not be subject to inheritance tax.

US tax payers may wish to leave a bequest in dollars through the American Friends of the National Portrait Gallery (London), a tax exemption organisation under section 501 (c ) (3).

Whatever the amount, every gift is welcome and makes a difference.

If you are considering leaving a gift in your will to the National Portrait Gallery we would welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you further. Please contact:
