Reaching beyond the Gallery
As a publicly funded
national institution, the Gallery strongly believes it is important
for the collections and public services to be available as widely
as possible, not just to visitors to London.
Regional Partners In 1975 the Gallery established its first
regional partnership at Montacute House
in Somerset. The whole of the top floor of the house is given
over to the display of 16th and 17th century portraits from our
collections. Two more followed at Beningbrough
Hall in North Yorkshire and at Bodelwyddan
Castle in Denbighshire.
Long-term and temporary exhibition loans The
Gallery also has a policy of long-term loans to organisations
throughout Britain and abroad. Portraits are also lent for inclusion
in temporary exhibitions at home and around the world.
Touring
exhibitions The Gallery is also committed to touring
exhibitions, and we have well-established relationships with
major regional UK venues.
