Painted
in 1957 by the Italian artist Pietro Annigoni, this romantic
and rarely-seen portrait of Princess Margaret is being lent to
the Gallery by her son, Viscount Linley. Annigoni was one of
the leading portrait painters of the 1950s and 1960s, and the
portrait will be shown alongside photographs of the Princess
from the Gallery's Collection by Cecil Beaton, Dorothy Wilding
and Norman Parkinson. |
